Asia industry trade journals give China suppliers immediate access to buyers across ASEAN markets

Hong Kong, China, January 1, 2010 – In the wake of the historic China-ASEAN free trade agreement, Ringier Trade Media’s Asia industry trade journals and its new “Buyer Alert” online service are designed to help China manufacturers enter ASEAN markets and get immediate access to buyers across key industries.

The China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) free trade area (FTA) came into affect, Jan 1, 2010.

The original six ASEAN member countries including (Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand) will have zero tariff policy for products ranging from food, plastics, machinery and cement which started on Jan 1, 2010. The average tariff on goods from ASEAN countries to China is cut down to 0.1 percent from 9.8 percent.

The FTA will create the world's largest FTA embracing developing countries and covers a population of 1.9 billion and involves about 4.5 trillion U.S. dollars of trade volume.

China's Vice Commerce Minister Gao Hucheng said earlier that the establishment of the FTA will promote the regional economic integration, benefiting industry, companies and consumers.
