The role of improving China’s nutrition has been placed into the hands of the government. This means that the nutrition and health industry gets government support. But with the improvement in living standards and the growing consciousness of the public, the demand for functional foods has expanded over the years that the functional foods sector has been transformed into a rapidly-growing segment of food manufacturing.

The Functional Food Technology and Innovation Summit in 2009 was a huge success as it brought together many domestic and foreign enterprises such as Unilever, Coca Cola, Amway, Nestle, Tongrentang,Avon,Global Active Limited, Cerebos, Conba, Perfect, DSM, Cargill into one venue to discuss case studies and share their experiences in advanced food technology applications.
