NEW packaging for fresh produce takes advantage of developments in modified atmosphere packaging (MAP) to increase the shelf life of fresh produce. Launched by StePac, a wholly-owned subsidiary of UK-based Johnson Matthey PLC, the packaging will allow retailers to extend the shelf life of whole fruits, vegetables, fresh-cut salads, and herbs, and as a result, reduce waste.
"We're building on the latest developments in advanced Xtend® modified atmosphere/modified humidity (MA/MH) technology and packaging design to help both retailers and international food brands to address growing consumer demands for premium quality packaged produce, says Johnson Matthey Technical Development Manager, Gary Ward, PhD.
According the company case studies have shown how the Xgo™ advanced retail packaging line has proven its value in retail. Xgo will be showcased at the Produce Marketing Association (PMA) Expo taking place October 20-21 in New Orleans: Johnson Matthey booth Hall E - Stand #3219.
