The 2017 edition of ArabPlast is expected to see expansion of 18%  compared to the 2015 edition.
The Gulf region’s plastics industry is more vibrant than ever with demand for plastics in the region on the rise. Another important factor is the sustained growth of the region’s petrochemical industry which is expected to post capacity expansion over the next five years to account for 17% of the global market for petrochemical products.

Against this backdrop, ArabPlast 2017 is expected to reflect the region’s strengths and opportunities for those engaged in plastics processing.  One of the world's biggest three global plastics and petrochemical shows held every two years, ArabPlast is scheduled to take place from January 8 to 10 at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC).

According to Satish Khanna, General Manager of Al Fajer Information and Services, co-organizers of ArabPlast expo, investments in plastics and petrochemical sector are on the rise defying global market conditions. He added that the Gulf petrochemicals industry remains the world’s biggest producer and exporter, sending its products to more than 150 countries worldwide.

ArabPlast 2017 organizers also said that the petrochemicals industry has affected the stock index across the world, including the GCC. Mr. Khanna said that stock markets with well-established petrochemical sectors perform better against crude oil prices decline. “The industry is thus helping lift major stock markets in the Middle East,” Mr. Khanna explained.

The 2017 edition of ArabPlast is expected to see expansion of 18%  compared to the 2015 edition. The organizers are confident of a record turnout by petrochemical companies at the exhibition next year. Arabplast is ranked as the biggest plastics, petrochemicals and rubber show in the Middle East. A record number of 906 exhibitors from 41 countries and 27,268 trade visitors came from 119 countries at the Arabplast 2015.

On display at ArabPlast 2017 will be new products and technologies in injection molding, blow molding, wrapping and packaging, pre and post plastic processing techniques as well as raw materials, such as additives and polymers. The show covers a wide spectrum of plastic machinery, plastic/rubber processing technology, pre and post-processing systems, plastic packaging technology, injection molding, blow molding, wrapping technology, extrusions, chemicals and additives, semi-finished goods, engineering plastics and plastic products.

Innovation as main topic
Patent grants from the GCC in chemistry have grown five fold in the last decade, according to the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). With production of  more than $102 billion worth of products a year,  the GCC petrochemical industry is a main generator of patents, thus the industry has met global standards.

At ArabPlast 2017, innovation will be a main topic with updates on the region’s  petrochemical and plastics industry. It will also witness the largest participation in its history, with large high-end machineries and technologies from Europe, Asia and the rest of the world.

Past editions of ArabPlast showcase over 150 containers of machineries, which made ArabPlast gain the reputation of being the largest machinery trade exhibition in the Middle East.

ArabPlast is jointly organized by Al Fajer Information and Services, and Germany’s Messe Dusseldorf.
