Arjuna sources sustainable amaranthus for its OxyStorm, a product for enhancing essential nitric oxide through beverages

Arjuna Natural Ltd. has reported its source of Amaranthus now comes from sustainable farms in India. The company found it necessary to carry out a sustainable approach to meet the demand for OxyStorm®, a sugar-free nitric oxide booster that has numerous applications in the health and nutrition space.

Sustainable farming

Arjuna says it partners with local farmers in South India where large tracts of lands are used for amaranthus cultivation. The company has taught the farmers the ideal way to grow and harvest the plant in order to get the best yield.

“Arjuna identified an experienced community of local farmers and helped them develop and maintain sustainable farming practices,” says Benny Antony, PhD, Joint Managing Director. “We trained them to adopt the best practices, focusing on the minutest details, while employing advanced agricultural methods. This allows the farmers to attain the maximum yield of high-quality amaranthus, without using any chemicals.”

After harvest, the crop undergoes a controlled, proprietary process before further extraction. The nutraceutical compounds are kept intact through every segment of the patent-pending manufacturing and purification process. The harvest in processed at a well supervised facility that is powered by eco-friendly solar energy at Arjuna.

Nitrated for Cardioprotection

Clinical studies suggest that nitrates benefit heart health, and nitrate deficiency could lead to illnesses related to cardiovascular and related systems: heart failure, hypertension, dyslipidemia, insulin resistance, diabetes mellitus, hyperhomocysteinemia, inflammation and diseases due to smoking.

Developing new methods to restore and replete bioactive nitric oxide is extremely important, especially for cardioprotection and support in persons who are active. Results from a clinical study published in the September 2016 European Journal of Applied Physiology confirm that dietary supplementation of OxyStorm generates a significant boost in plasma nitrate, ultimately increasing nitric oxide levels in the body.

“OxyStorm has gained a good reputation in the US and other countries for its health benefits and high nitrate content,” notes Chase Johnston, Director of US Operations for Arjuna. “It is suitable for a comprehensive portfolio of food, beverage, and supplement applications, including health beverages, beverage ‘shots’, nutrition bars and supplements.”

Arjuna Natural LLC, was recently established in Dallas, Texas, to better serve the company’s North American customers.
