Asian designs worth a WorldStar Award

THE WorldStar Competition, an annual event conducted by the World Packaging Organisation (WPO) this year received 291 entries from 35 countries.  Of this 194 were picked by the jury who announced the winners at interpack 2017, held in May. 

While most winning entries came companies from Europe and the USA, there were standouts from Asia as well. China’s Shenzhen Nine Stars Printing & Packaging Group Co., Ltd won an award for its Yiyuan Heart Nourishing Cake packaging. Its packaging adopts an integrated opening design of the outer and inner box to show the product. Use of gray board paper could save over 25% packaging materials with a lower cost compared to the same type of package. Hollowed-out traditional Chinese character “万” on inner box implies longevity and happiness.

From Indonesia, an all-in-one cup from PT. Heavenly Nutrition Indonesia was also among the winners. The Heavenly Blush packaging for yogurt consists of three compartments, one for yogurt, fruit toppings and, the third for the scoop. It is the first and only with three compartments.

An entry from India’s M/s JPS Plastics Pvt Ltd, is the multilayer bag with a matte reverse printed BOPP, laminated with metallic BOPP, sandwiched through PPLD fabric.
