SHANGHAI – BioDevice 2014 is being launched for the first time this May in Shanghai, with two related tracks: one on the latest advances in implantable and interventional medical devices (IIMD) and another on cutting-edge biological medical devices (BIOMED).
Both IIMD and BIOMED will provide in-depth technical and business information at the inaugural BioDevice 2014 to be held on 28-29 May, said organizers UBM and MEDTEC.
The summit will focus on combination of biology, medicine and engineering, and also will bring together 150 industry professionals across the globe to discuss the development of biomedical devices. These opportunities to learn, discuss, network, challenge and collaborate under one roof is meant to address the wide gap that still exists between China's medical devices industry and those in developed countries. The summit agenda address some of these challenges.
28 May Changing Regulatory Environment - Interpreting Medical Device Regulations
– IIMD: New Landscape for Partnership & Commercialization
– Innovation and Advanced Technology for the Future of BIOMED
29 May New Materials Bring New Hope
– Breaking Research in IIMD Technologies
– Latest BIOMED Development and Quality Management
Some of the topics that will be covered include insights into the ever-changing, complex regulations set to impact the sector over the next few years; validation, testing and requirements for biocompatibility and an in depth dissection of ISO 10993 for medical devices; and the future of medical robotics in meeting clinical needs.
The global medical devices industry currently serves $50-billion market, of which China is poised to become the world's second largest market. Research suggests that the country’s medical device industry offers excellent opportunities for biomaterials suppliers and other innovative materials critical for many implantable and interventional medical devices.
