ANGKOR Dairy Factory celebrated its historic launch on May 25 at the Phnom Penh Special Economic Zone. Vinamilk’s largest investment in Asia, the 30,000-square-meter dairy plant is the first and only one in Cambodia. It has an annual capacity of 19 million liters of liquid milk, 64 million cups of yoghurt, and 80 million tins of sweetened condensed milk.
Angkor Dairy Products Company Limited, which operates the plant under a 51-49 partnership between Vietnam Dairy Products Joint Stock Company (Vinamilk) and Cambodia’s BPC Trading Co., anticipates strong local and regional demand for its products. By 2024, it targets to double yearly capacity of liquid milk to 38 million liters and to triple that of yoghurt production to 192 million cups.
“The construction of Angkor Dairy Factory has illustrated the long-lasting friendship and solidarity between Cambodia and Vietnam,” said Cambodia Deputy Prime Minister Men Sam. In addition to the economic gains it brings to both countries, she says the dairy plant will help contribute to the health and well-being of Cambodians.
The plant design, construction and the installation of machinery and production lines comply with international standards on Food Safety and Environment. Tetra Pak integration technologies is used from handling raw materials to processing and packaging. The manufacturing is automated to optimally control the entire processing area, filling as well as integrate with the enterprise resource planning system. About 90 percent of the workforce is from Cambodia.
“We commit ourselves to Cambodian development by providing our consumers with optimal nutrition that meet international standards,” said Phat Bun, Director of Angkor Dairy and Chairman of BPC Trading.
As part of its CSR efforts, Angkor Dairy donated 500 cartons of liquid milk valued at $10,000 to underprivileged children of Phnom Penh at the inauguration.
