THE Chinese market for medical polymers is expected to have total market value of more than $4 billion in 2017 (vs. $1.9 billion in 2012), growing by 16.1% in the 5-year period up to 2017, according to BCC Research. The high demand in the pharmaceutical and medical device industries in China has encouraged the growth in medical polymers production in the last 20 years.
BCC Research further reports that the cardiovascular market is the fastest growing market in terms of consumption of medical polymers, although it is currently one of the smallest markets. The report states that PLA will be the fastest-growing segment over the next 5 years with anticipated annual growth of more than 26% from 2012 through 2017. The research and development efforts for nontoxic polymers are on the rise due to the stringent standards in the medical industry.
The medical polymers market and production centres are concentrated in such regions in China as the Yangtze River Delta, the Pearl River Delta, and Northern China.Air Jordan
