COFFEE training is in demand, according to the Coffee Training Academy of Verona (Accademia del Caffé). The trend led the Group to open a new training facility in Dubai, UAE, where it will hold classes beginning 2019.
The Coffee Training Academy Dubai is a first in providing the region’s coffee industry with Made in Italy training and it also aims to understand the espresso coffee culture in the Middle East. All trainors are Italian with experience from the Verona site.
The comprehensive training programme is open to all, including baristas and those who work in Italian coffee shops in the Gulf. The programme is based on the Specialty Coffee Association’s six modules and three levels. For baristas, there will be training in the Latte Art Grading System, and an ad hoc training for management skills specifically for head baristas who have roles in coffee shops and coffee distribution in hotels.
The local partner for the Italian academy is Mr Ciro Arianna, CEO of Mime Group and exporter of Food and Beverage Made in Italy.
According to a report in Forbes Middle East, traditional coffee shops are giving way to modern cafes. The UAE is so far the fastest growing retail market for coffee, and major international coffee chains are already well placed there. The report says the country accounted for 3.4 billion cups a day in 2016.
