Dubbed Material Vision Proofing (MVP), the new system includes a motorized camera that automatically confirms that the connection between material sources and destinations has been made correctly and conveying can begin

Conair's booth at NPE 2015 will highlight several new products including its “next generation” material-handling proofing system that uses machine vision to help prevent material contamination due to operator error. The Material Vision Proofing (MVP) is a new vision system that features a motorized camera that automatically confirms that the connection between material sources and destinations has been made correctly before conveying can start.

The MVP system and Conair's other new and recently introduced innovations are all aimed at helping plastics processors operate more efficiently and more profitably. “We plan to show NPE visitors how they can get on a pathway to profitability by taking advantage of Conair know-how and equipment to solve problems, cut waste, save energy and improve process yield,” explains Dori Raybuck, Director of Global Marketing.

Featured products, never exhibited at NPE before, include:

ESE Series Central Chillers
The new ESE Series EarthSmart central chillers are modular and scalable and can meet immediate process requirements and allow for future expansion, where users can install one or more chillers and then add more modules up to a total of six for cooling capacity to 960 tons. All units – up to a total of 12 refrigeration circuits – can be connected to a single control interface using twisted-pair wiring, for centralized control of all chiller circuits. Systems can be water cooled, using tower water, or can be installed in a remote-air-cooled condenser configuration.

Adiabatic Cooling Towers
Using EarthSmartT Adiabatic Cooling Towers, plastics processors can reduce water and energy consumption and prevent contamination of process fluid, while maintaining stable fluid temperatures even in hot weather. Process fluid circulates in a closed loop through tubing in the tower, so it is isolated from contamination and evaporation. The tubing is positioned behind adiabatic panels. As ambient air passes through the wetted panels, water evaporates, reducing the temperature of the air flowing into the unit so that it cools the process fluid. Eleven models are available to handle nominal flow rates from as little as 45 gal/min (170 l/min) up to 510 gal/min (1930 l/min) of process fluid (35% ethylene glycol).

MicroWheel Desiccant Dryers
Believed to be the smallest desiccant-wheel dryers available, these new Conair units offer an alternative to compressed-air dryers and small twin-tower units, making them ideal choice for medical processors and others running small quantities of expensive engineering resins. The new small dryers are offered in two basic models: the MW1 and the MW2. Because they use brushless blowers with speed control built in, the dryers can be easily programmed to deliver exactly the right amount of process air flow to dry the different resin volumes. Each model is available with several different hopper capacities. The MW1 units can support hoppers of 0.2-cu-ft (5.7-l), 0.5-cu-ft (14.2-l) and 1.0-cu-ft (28.5-l) capacity. Including the hopper, they range in height from only 19.5 in (495mm) to 27.7 in (704mm) and the largest weighs just 106 lb (48kg).
