Saudi Arabia's 16th international showcase for the packaging, processing, canning, bottling, labelling and plastics industry (propac Arabia) is being held concurrently with two other major shows – food Arabia and hotel Arabia – on 29 May to 1 June 2011 at the Jeddah Centre for Forums & Events in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
This annual trio-event held in Jeddah, the commercial and leisure centre, is the Kingdom's national showcase and the region's international forum for worldwide suppliers to present their products and services to the broadest spectrum of high profile trade visitors from throughout the Kingdom and neighbouring Gulf States.
Saudi Arabia is an important market for the food, hotel and packaging industries as it imports food worth $ 10 billion annually. This is because the Kingdom's resources are capable of meeting just 40% of its dietary needs. The rest is imported from more than 200 countries. With current population at 28 million and growing to reach over 50 million in the next decade, the need for food products will increase significantly.
Saudi Arabia plans to invest $650 billion in infrastructure and development projects by the year 2015, on a multitude of projects as the five new economic cities, medical and education facilities, housing, business and leisure, hospitality industry, trade and tourism making it a perfect marketplace for dealers, suppliers, and manufacturers of these products and services. It is forecast that there will be another 21 hotels with 7,000 more hotel rooms in the Kingdom by 2013. Of the total, 2,000 will open this year.
Saudi Arabia's tourism revenue, which stands at $15 billion annually, is expected to jump to a whopping $65 billion by 2019. This will provide impetus for growth in sectors engaged in providing tourism services.
Cutting-edge technologies in packaging are expected to draw interests amongst visitors. Saudi Arabia is the region's leader in this sector, accounting for up to 70% of the GCC market, estimated at over $2 billion. A key factor in the Kingdom's increasing demand for new packaging solutions has been the unprecedented growth of the food manufacturing industry. Of late, numerous food manufacturing plants have been established and 600+ new facilities are set to be built within the next few years, increasing the need for a diverse range of food packaging solutions, products and machinery.
The show portrays Saudi Arabia's packaging sector as an important platform where potential buyers can source and select the best packaging solutions that meet their particular needs. It also provides a perfect gateway for international and domestic suppliers to capitalise on excellent growth and business opportunities tied to the Kingdom's massive present and future packaging requirements. On exhibit are: bag manufacturing machines; bottling systems; canning machinery; case packing; cutting machines; industrial cooking equipment; labelling machinery; laboratory testing equipment; meat processing technology; packing materials; palletising machines; plastics & rubber machinery, equipment & materials; preservatives; printing machines; quality control equipment; scales & weighing equipment; smoking & curing equipment; stencilling & coding machines; sterilisation & pasteurisation equipment; and wrapping machinery, and other packaging-related products and services.
