Davis-Standard, LLC, Hall 9.2, Stand J41, will promote an HPE-H extruder, as well as its growing regional presence at CHINAPLAS

Davis-Standard, LLC, Hall 9.2, Stand J41, will promote its growing regional presence and capabilities at CHINAPLAS 2017. On display will be an HPE-H extruder. The HPE-H offers a compact design and is one of the industry’s most widely used extruders. Available in 20mm (3/4-inch), 25mm (1-inch), 30mm (1 ¼-inch), 40mm (1 ½-inch), and 45mm (1 ¾-inch) sizes, the HPE-H is known for  fast delivery and rugged design that is energy efficient and easy to maintain.

As Asia’s healthcare and packaging markets continue to grow and develop, so has Davis-Standard’s ability to support customers throughout Asia. Last year Davis-Standard expanded its sales team in the region while also increasing manufacturing and laboratory capabilities at its Suzhou, China location. This has improved Davis-Standard’s response and delivery time while providing versatile and cost-competitive equipment options.

Davis-Standard now manufactures several products in Suzhou including extruders up to 114mm, PLC control systems, high-speed systems for medical tubing and a full offering of wire & cable systems. Additionally, the facility is equipped for gearbox and control panel assembly and refurbishing services, and there are plans to add fabrication and assembly of downstream equipment. Regional manufacturing has been key to Davis-Standard’s ability to serve every major converting and extrusion market in Asia.

Davis-Standard LLC at CHINAPLAS

In medical tubing, Davis-Standard has seen increased development of multi-layer structures and smaller diameter tubing to provide better physical property performance across a range of new applications. That is why the company offers complete systems with materials versatility. These systems are built to support extruder outputs of up to 315 kg/hr (700 pounds per hour) and line speeds up to 240mpm (800 feet per minute) for materials including PLA, PLLA, PEEK, FPVC, polyurethane, nylon, PEBAX and FEP.

In packaging, Davis-Standard has addressed an uptick in flexible packaging demand through its dsX flex-pack™ extrusion coating product line. This line has excelled in the areas of extruder performance, web handling, lamination bonding, unwind splice efficiency and consistent winding. It is available in 1200, 1350 and 1550mm widths and processors are able to regularly achieve speeds up to 450 mpm. Converters benefit from reduced variability and better end product quality, greater uptime and productivity, less waste and lower costs, and capabilities for a wide range of applications. The latest versions of the dsX flex-pack have been adapted to provide tandem extrusion coating capabilities, further expanding the machine’s relevance in the marketplace.

To support regional customer trials and application development, the Suzhou laboratory offers a high speed FPVC extrusion system and multipurpose microbore tubing line. The FPVC line is capable of line speeds from 5 to 100mpm for processing 2mm to 8mm OD tubing with accuracy of +/- 50u. Line components include a 63mm extruder, 8m water cooling, precision internal air supply, OD gauge and combination puller-cutter. The multipurpose micro bore tubing line is designed for single or dual layer tubing, and single lumen tubing with or without a stripe. It is equipped with two extruders, OD/ID wall thickness measuring and controlling system, close loop control via vacuum sizing tank and puller, and a high level central control system.

Other notable developments that positively impact customers in China include Davis-Standard’s 2015 acquisition of Gloucester Engineering Company (GEC) and new technology patents. The GEC acquisition broadened the company’s equipment base in blown film, cast film and foam sheet. Davis-Standard offers aftermarket support to all GEC equipment, including performance and machine control upgrades. Davis-Standard also recently patented a spiral design for reducing thermally sensitive polymer degradation in blown film dies and has provisional patents for a unique driven lay-on winder and self-threading winder.

Davis-Standard’s representatives look forward to discussing this and additional developments in Asia with customers during the show. For more information visit www.davis-standard.com, or www.davis-standard.com.cn.
