Polaris fulfils four EFSA claims with its new algal DHA Omega-3 in vegan softgel

NUTRITIONAL LIPIDS expert, Polaris will launch an ultra-stable algal DHA Omega-3 in vegan softgel format at Food Ingredients Europe, taking place from 28-30 November 2017 in Messe Frankfurt (Germany).

The company has packed an optimal 250mg of DHA Omega-3 from microalgae in a 100% plant-based shell in one capsule, making it an ideal solution for consumers seeking a vegan or vegetarian alternative to gelatin capsules. Designed to meet EFSA requirements, the capsule

opens up the possibility of four different EFSA health claims:

•           DHA contributes to the maintenance of normal vision

•           DHA contributes to the maintenance of normal brain function

•           DHA maternal intake contributes to the normal development of the eye of the foetus and breastfed children

“Consumer demand for the many health benefits of Omega-3 remains extremely high and in a competitive market an EFSA claim has never been more important. By offering our algal oil an optimal dose, we’re providing four health claims in a single convenient capsule,” said Véronique Sancéau, Marketing Manager at Polaris, a company based in France.

The oil offers unmatched stability, thanks to Polaris’ unique Qualitysilver® industrial methodology. Testing has shown it to be around three times more stable than standard algal oil.

Polaris’ algal oil is 100% produced in Europe, non-GMO, allergen-free, and extracted naturally without solvents. In addition, it has just received kosher certification and Halal certification is expected by the end of the year.  It has also received “Non-GMO Verification” accreditation for sales in the US.

Ms Sancéau added: “We’re excited to be offering our customers DHA Omega-3 in a capsule format that enables them to target key health markets. Our algal oil is not only animal-free and produced naturally, it is now also certified kosher and non-GMO and will be soon halal certified, helping us meet worldwide market demand even more effectively.”
