EPI Ingredients has been expanding into many parts of Asia to market its latest innovations

EPI Ingredients, the dry ingredients division of French dairy cooperative Laïta, has been expanding into many parts of Asia including China, India and Thailand, as well as Malaysia and the Philippines. The company is also entering the Indonesian market, and for the first time showcased its products at Fi Asia 2016. At the trade show in Jakarta, we had the opportunity to speak with Angeline Chatellier, R&D Project Manager, on the company’s plans for 2017.

“It is very interesting to develop Epi products in this region,” Ms Chatellier said. “This is the first time we have come to FiA. It is the beginning and is a good opportunity to present our unique products.”

According to Ms Chatellier, Epi Ingredients aims, among other things, to stimulate sales of new demineralized whey powders which are 90% demineralized and perfectly adapted to infant nutrition.

At the Jakarta exhibition, the company introduced its fermented products – fermented powders including yogurt powders and fermented products with different levels of protein content, living or dead bacteria, featured in different applications: ice creams and cheesecakes with Epi’s yogurt powder and different baked products with skim milk powder.

The company also expects growth in the infant nutrition sector, and is ready to provide the market with its high quality products. It has an extensive infant nutrition portfolio consisting of dry and liquid solutions from bulk ingredients to finished products. It also has a dedicated team of experts in the area of health and nutrition to ensure the quality of the products.

“To meet increasing demand in the infant nutrition sector, we are building a new drying tower in Créhen in Brittany (France), dedicated to infant products. This will be completed by 2017,” she said.
