Frigel extends advanced control technology to portable chillers and central air-cooled chillers, as well as pumping and filtration components

To address the need for more process-cooling equipment operational data – and an intuitive way to optimize equipment for improved productivity and profitability – Frigel extends its advanced control technology to Microgel machine-side chiller/temperature control units (TCUs), Heavygel air-cooled chillers, and Aquagel pumping reservoir and filtration components. The 3PR control technology will be introduced at K 2016, in Düsseldorf, Germany, 19-26 October, 2016.

Frigel, which pioneered the concept of intelligent process cooling, first implemented its 3PR technology in 2015 on its Ecodry closed-loop adiabatic central cooling system. Based on customer feedback, as well as the growing need for seamless Internet connectivity to building management systems, it subsequently extended the same control platform to its Microgel and Heavygel product lines, making it the only company that offers common control capabilities on three types of cooling systems, as well auxiliary components.

In addition to providing more information than previously available in a portable chiller, 3PR technology delivers the first availability of Wi-Fi and Ethernet connectivity in portable chillers. As such, Microgel users are able to access crucial operating data, including temperatures, pressures, flow rates, and energy use. The control platform also gives Wi-Fi and Ethernet connectivity to Frigel’s Heavygel chillers and Aquagel systems.

Among the key features of the control technology is an intuitive, 7-inch, full-color touch screen. Users can easily view, control and optimize all aspects of their equipment based on real-time data across their network infrastructure, including building management systems. The information is displayed in the user’s language of choice. In addition, it automatically adjusts the system when needed to ensure optimum performance based on a wide range of operating parameters. Unique to the Frigel control technology is on-board maintenance recommendations, as well as troubleshooting guides and event/processing data history logs to ensure maximum equipment uptime.

Frigel technicians can remotely access the control system and view real-time data when needed to help with troubleshooting or assistance to improve equipment performance. A robust onboard memory capacity continuously stores vital operating conditions for later analysis and further system optimization.

Frigel will showcase the capabilities of the control technology on Heavygel and Microgel equipment at K 2016 at its booth in Hall 11, Stand A60.
