Henkel, a training base for China's packaging industry

THE China Packaging Federation (CPF) has recently named Henkel in Shanghai as amongst the country's packaging industry training bases. The Henkel plant, which manufactures mostly adhesives, is the first-ever multinational to receive the endorsement from the government body of China’s packaging industry. The few training bases for packaging in the country are run by academic institutions, universities and large government-owned packaging groups.

Henkel hosted the first training session for executives from the flexible packaging industry at the Packaging Executive Academy at the Henkel Asia Pacific Headquarters in Shanghai in June 2013

The knowledge, studies and trainers from the Henkel centre meet the country’s industry standards. The training certificates granted by the centre are also officially endorsed by the CPF, making them an attractive qualification document in the eyes of packaging industry professionals.

“The industrial expertise from Henkel is very important for the Chinese packaging industry,” said Ao Wennan, secretary general of the CPF. “By confirming Henkel as a national packaging training base, we hope Henkel can take active actions to help China to develop more packaging professionals, promote innovation and sustainability, and drive the Chinese packaging industry to a new level.”

Since 2013, Henkel and CPF have been in an exclusive strategic partnership to introduce high-end professional training programmes for senior executives in China’s flexible packaging industry at the “Packaging Executive Academy.” At Henkel’s Packaging Academy, different industrial stakeholders including convertors, machine manufacturers, multinational consumer goods companies and representatives from the Chinese Ministry of Health discuss future packaging trends, innovations and sustainability with Henkel experts.
