IMTS set for September 8-13 at McCormick place in Chicago

The 27th edition of the premier manufacturing technology show in North America, International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS), will take place September 8-13 at Chicago's McCormick Place complex. More than 1,200 exhibiting companies will occupy 1.2 million net square-feet of exhibit space for the six day exhibition. Show hours vary from building to building. The Lakeside (East) building hours are 9 am - 5 pm daily; the North, South and West building hours are 10 am - 6 pm daily. Over 91,000 manufacturing industry professionals from the United States and from over 119 countries around the world attend IMTS. They come to see more than 15,000 new machine tools, controls, computers, software, components, systems and processes that can improve their efficiency. They also gain valuable ideas and insights from the world's leading equipment producers. They come to look and they come to buy. New thinking takes shape at IMTS Makino will be introducing a number of new machines at this year's IMTS, including the MAG1 5-axis horizontal machining center for aerospace structural parts up to 1.5 meters, D500 5-axis vertical machining center designed for job-shop production, the DUO-series next-generation wire EDM machines, and the V33i vertical machining center with unmatched accuracies for hardmilling. All new machines will be cutting live on the show floor. In addition to the new machines, Makino will have several processes and dozens of parts on display, along with many of the manufacturers who created the parts to discuss the process and their use of Makino technology. New Kellenberger Kel-Vita universal grinding machine Kellenberger, a member of The Hardinge Group, is introducing at IMTS the Kel-Vita, a cost-effective universal ID/OD grinding machine that meets the diversity of customer's needs and workpieces up to a length of 1000mm. The Kel-Vita features numerous wheelhead configurations, low friction linear rails and a newly-developed CNC control. Mitsubishi demonstrates total supply chain Among the Mitsubishi equipment to be on display at IMTS: wire and sinker EDMs, small hole drills, Roku-Roku high-speed machining centers, and waterjet. The new FA20S Advance wire EDM features a new M700 series Mitsubishi control. The Windows-based system with 15-inch LCD touch screen display provides a simple menu configuration allowing for easy navigation. The machine has the world's first 3D adaptive EDM control, which can analyze 3D data and recognize shape characteristics virtually eliminating transition lines in stepped workpiece areas. Mitsubishi will also showcase its newest, large-capacity wire EDM, the BA24. The machine was designed to accommodate a variety of machining needs, from parts to dies, at an attractive price point.
