At Hi Europe 2018, Taiyo GmBH presented itself among the pioneers for weight management ingredients with its new concepts for appetite control based on its Sunfiber dietary fibre. It specialises in the research and manufacture of functional ingredients for the food, beverage, medical food and pharmaceutical industries.
The company’s SunActive® DHA stabilises valuable fatty acids in enriched products. The SunActive® Chia Oil Powder brings the cell membrane component alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) into dietary supplements, as well as instant beverages and powder blends.
Sunfiber Orange, a fibre-rich soft drink, was developed in cooperation with the brand manufacturer Sinalco and sweetening specialist Sweethouse. Dietary fibres stimulate intestinal activity and help to regulate body weight by sending satiety signals to the brain via messenger substances derived from fermentation pro ducts. The calorie-free drink, which has been proven in a study to significantly increase the feeling of satiety and reduce energy intake, was a sought-after thirst-quencher at Taiyo’s stand.
Two other products based on the delivery system SunActive® supply the body with essential fatty acids. SunActive® Chia Oil Powder helps to incorporate sensitive omega-3 fatty acids in a stabilised bioavailable form into shakes, sachets and instant beverage drinks. SunActive® DHA, meanwhile, is a delivery system developed to protect, solubilize and stabilize another nutritionally important source of omega-3 fatty acids which, among other things, promote the development of eyes and brain in childhood.
Dr. Stefan Siebrecht, Managing Director at Taiyo, says: “For us, Hi Europe is a good stage to present our extensive portfolio, which on the one hand helps to increase the nutritional value of numerous products and on the other hand offers enormous functional benefits from a technological point of view, for example, through their stabilising function. This year we gained even more interesting contacts than last time round – it was a great success for Taiyo.”
