InterPlas Thailand gathers industrial giants in Southeast Asia

Thailand’s mega event for the industrial sector highlights the emerging demand for smart manufacturing technologies.  

InterPlas Thailand returns as a concurrent event of the Manufacturing Expo 2017. As Thailand’s premier exhibition for the plastics, rubber and petrochemical industries, InterPlas Thailand  is expected to be bigger in scope and scale this year, promising a host of advanced technologies and information geared toward Industry 4.0.

The mega event, Manufacturing Expo 2017, provides comprehensive technology and solutions for manufacturing including molds and dies, plastics, automotive, automation, electronics, coating and other fast-growing sectors.  This year, Manufacturing Expo has brought 2,452 brands from 46 countries of which more than 50% are from Japan. Over 70,000 visitors are expected of whom some 5,000 are foreign visitors. Business transactions in the show is expected to reach 5,000 million baht.

InterPlas Thailand alone features over 350 brands from 20 countries, serving automotive, electronics & electrical, packaging, bioplastics and medical equipment industries.

The exhibition highlights five newly promoted industries by the Thai government, industries that are considered to be the future of Thai and global industrial sector as they have already attracted many global companies who have shown interest to invest in Thailand as a manufacturing base. These promoted industries include: 1) Industrial Robotics for replacing manual workers; 2) Aviation and Logistics in line with the expansion of U-tapao airport; 3) Biofuels and Biochemicals; 4) Digital Industry; 5) Medical Industry to form the medical hub.

Other exhibition highlights include the “Robots: from Space Elevator Project brought by Japan Space Elevator Association (JSEA) to demonstrate robots that can defy gravity from Earth to Space, a first time feature in ASEAN. The 3D Technology Zone shows 3D printing potentials while the Smart 4.0 Zone demonstrates machinery controlled for production through PLC process or the Internet of Things. Another highlight is the Plastic Innovation Showcase where plastic innovations and samples of futuristic plastic applications are shown. M Fair Business Matching has also been launched as a matching platform for Japanese SMEs with ASEAN subcontractors.
