Held from 7 – 9 July, the 2016 edition of Intertextile Pavilion Shenzhen is entering its final preparation stages. Approximately 700 exhibitors from China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Korea, Taiwan and the UK will cover a wide range of sourcing options across 30,000 sqm exhibition space in halls 6, 7 and 9 of the Shenzhen Convention & Exhibition Center. Ms Wendy Wen, Senior General Manager of the fair organiser Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd, commented: “As the South China apparel market is increasing in importance within the country, more overseas suppliers are eager to expand their business in this region, and we are pleased to see that many of them are utilising Intertextile Pavilion Shenzhen to do so.”

Amongst the many overseas exhibitors are two debut UK design studios:

Fairbairn & Wolf Studio will showcase its newest Van Gogh inspired oil painted floral, Chinese calligraphic inspired, conversational landscape and constellation print collections, as well as special collections of creative screen prints and fabric developments which are tailored to the Chinese market.

Liberty Art’s print designs are often created in collaboration with famous artists, writers, craftsman, architects and illustrators. A series of collections including Contemporary Classic, Asia and 2017 Spring Summer will be presented in the fair.

Both of these studios are enthusiastic about joining the fair for the first time. Ms Rachel Huang, Regional Sales Manager of Liberty Art, explained: “Shenzhen is the world’s garment making powerhouse as it contains a number of garment manufacturers and accounts for 15% of China’s total textile exports. Plus, Shenzhen, being adjacent to Hong Kong, is also a hub for trade, export and clothing design. Therefore, Intertextile Pavilion Shenzhen can be a good platform for us to explore more opportunities.”

Fairbairn & Wolf Studio also see the potential in the South China market, with its designer Ms Jane Zhang saying: “Southern China has many textile manufacturers, and Shenzhen is the home of many leading designer brands. Therefore, joining the fair is an exciting opportunity for us to experiment in this market.”

Korea Pavilion features products tailored to South China market

Korean exhibitors at Intertextile fairs never fail to disappoint with an exciting array of products always on offer, with the Korea Pavilion at Intertextile Pavilion Shenzhen this year being no exception. Knits and polyesters are the main export items for Korean producers, and as such exhibitors in this pavilion will showcase a range of  jacquard, nylon, functional woven fabrics, cotton / rayon / nylon / poly mixed woven fabrics, embossed as well as spandex that target the mid-range and high-end of the market. Pavilion organiser Korea Fashion Textile Association (KFTA) expanded further: “We merge European fashion trends and functionality with our products to make sure they are well suited to the culture and weather of Southern China,” Mr Yoo Il Sung, Director of KFTA explained. “The Chinese market has shown tremendous growth recently, and participating in Intertextile Pavilion Shenzhen is a good way to access this market, as well as meet international buyers,” he continued.
