The future of production is networking. Smart technologies not only change individual companies, but also present the entire metalworking industry with new challenges.

Traditional or mature technologies are giving way to new processes or have to be adapted to digital environments.

Production advantages of the future come less from machines themselves than from their integration into the production network. The growing importance of digitised manufacturing processes is reflected in EMO Hannover 2019's motto Smart technologies driving tomorrow's production! The trade show consistently develops its concept as the world's leading trade fair for metalworking.

The IoT in Production exhibition area provides a complete overview of the central aspects of digitisation, including industrial safety, data analysis, process monitoring, predictive maintenance, artificial intelligence and big data management. In addition to individual exhibitors, initiatives from Spain, France, Switzerland, Japan, China and the USA will complement the exhibition with expertise and inspiring perspectives.

Other activities include the special exhibition industrie 4.0 area, which will bundle know-how in an expert forum for direct dialogue in cooperation with Konradin Verlag like in 2017, as well as scientific presentations and activities by WGP (Wissenschaftliche Gesellschaft für Produktionstechnik) and Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft. The new OPC-UA interface standard umati will also draw a lot of attention to the IoT in production exhibition, as the go-live of the industry-wide future project is expected for EMO Hannover 2019.

EMO Hannover 2019 will thus once again cover the entire value chain of the future, from individual machines to cloud-based systems, like no other trade fair in the world.
