Spectrum Brands Patents Apparatus for Grooming Hair
US Patent No. 8,875,717 B2; Spectrum Brands has patented a personal grooming apparatus for grooming hair. It features a substrate and a coating, disposed on the substrate, with a surface resistivity of less than about 1×1013 ohms/square and comprising a structural component selected from a silicone-modified fluoropolymer base resin or ceramic material or mixtures thereof. The coating is comprised of a static dissipative additive dispersed throughout the structural component to reduce the surface resistivity of the coating and the static dissipative additive is selected from the group consisting of aluminum, carbon particles and mixtures thereof.

L’Oréal Patents Eyebrow Brush
US Patent No. 8,875,719 B2; L’Oréal S.A., Paris, has patented a brush for applying makeup to eyelashes and/or eyebrows. The brush is comprised of a core, bristles comprising end portions extending substantially radially around at least a portion of the core, wherein the bristles define a bristled portion of the brush having a first length measured along a longitudinal axis of the core; and at least one notch having a second length measured along the longitudinal axis of the core less than half the first length, with at least one notch defined at a notched bristled portion of the brush. The bristles further define a non-notched bristled portion that is devoid of any notch all around the core along the non-notched bristled portion of the brush. The brush has a non-circular cross-section in a plane perpendicular to the core and intersecting the notch, and at least one notch is configured to form at least one bunch of eyelashes and/or eyebrows that are not separated from one another when the brush is used to apply makeup thereto.

Hair Color Applicator, Kits and Method
US Patent No. 8,893,728 B2; Tina Wright-Frohnhoefer of Magnolia, TX has been awarded US patent protection for her hair dye applicator. It is comprised of a container that has the first hair dye component and a second container that has a second hair dye component. A portion of a first end of the second container is releasably coupled to an end of the first container such that a contiguous conduit is defined for the first hair dye component and the second hair dye component. The first container also has an outlet with a closure that upon removal, a mixture of the first and second hair dye components are dispensed.

Retractable Cosmetic Dispenser
US Patent No. 8,727,650 B2; Craig Carroll of Newport Beach, CA and Steve Armstrong of San Juan Capistrano, CA patented a cosmetic dispenser that holds a substance; a body housing the reservoir; an applicator selectively extendable or retractable through an opening; and a cap for electively exposing and closing the opening for electively extending the applicator and exposing the opening, comprising (1) a pair of cap shoots coupled to the cap and (2) at least one flexor that is mechanically coupled to the cap and housing so that said means operates by mechanically forcing the cap off the opening via the cap shoots and away from the path of the applicator via the flexor; means for electively locking the extended applicator and, means for ejecting the substance.

The apparatus is comprised of a dispensing unit having means to control dispensing of the substances; a tank receptacle; a tank for stocking the substances, the tank being embodied as a replaceable unit connectable to the tank receptacle; at least one connection for data transmission between the dispensing unit and the tank; and at least one connection for data transmission between the household appliance and at least one of the tank and the dispensing unit while the tank and dispensing unit are situated inside the household appliance, the connection for data transmission being figured for the emission and/or reception of optical signals in the visible region, wherein the tank comprises a controlling unit to control dispensing and/or a cleaning program, the controlling unit being disposed on the tank and sized to be received with the tank by the tank receptacle.
