Mr. Zelkovich has been instrumental in broadening the company’s MedLine portfolio
MATT Zelkovich is now the Medical general manager for Conair.

Mr. Zelkovich, who joined the Conair Group in early 2014, has been spearheading a major development initiative to create a full line of plastics auxiliary equipment specially configured for use in medical cleanrooms and other controlled environments. The company expanded its MedLineTM product line under his leadership.

The MedLine product line, which now encompasses more than the downstream extrusion equipment marketed under that name for several years, covers over 170 different pieces of equipment for conveying and storage, resin drying, blending, heat transfer, and downstream extrusion. These adopt proven Conair designs but can be sized, configured, documented, and supported to suit the requirements of plastics processors, thereby enabling them to select, install, commission, and start up white rooms and cleanrooms faster and with less paperwork.

Mr. Zelkovich was in the plastics manufacturing industry for almost 30 years before joining Conair. The last of these three decades were spent as director of Engineering and Development at West Pharmaceutical Services, where he oversaw the setup and operation of ISO Class 7 and Class 8 cleanrooms, equipment evaluation, and selection, and implemented validated, commercial-scale operations. He was a Conair customer while with West Pharmaceutical Services and in previous engineering management assignments with Textron and Intesys Technologies Inc.

Mr. Zelkovich holds a patent for medical device tooling application. He has a Certificate in Strategy and Innovation from the Sloan School of Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He also completed a coursework in FDA and ISO design control, cleanroom design and management, and design for Six Sigma methodology.

According to Mr. Zelkovich, “I know from my own experience how difficult, time consuming, and expensive it can be to equip a cleanroom, calibrate everything and validate the process according to applicable standards and regulations. With Conair’s knowledge and years of experience working in a medical environment, we can really help customers save time and eliminate complexity in getting compliant. No other company I know of is doing this. It is just too complex for most equipment suppliers.”
