Exhibitors hail scale of show, quality of visitors and venue

SHANGHAI – MEDTEC China 2012, held September 26-27 in Shanghai, once again proved to be the best event on the Asian medical device manufacturing calendar. Held at the all-new Shanghai World Expo, the total number of 360 exhibitors including co-exhibitors enjoyed the attendance of 7,239 qualified trade visitors representing a 6.8% increase in the number attending in 2011.

The comprehensive conference programme once again proved a popular feature of the show, with both technical forum and regulation conference packed to the rafters. The expectation is high for the next edition of the show with an impressive 81% of exhibitors having already rebooked for 2013.

“The success of a medium-sized exhibition like MEDTEC China is determined by the factors of how to increase the number of visitors and also how to convince them to spend longer at the show,” said Keith Tsui, director of Asia Pacific and show organizer at UBM Canon. “Relocating to the new Shanghai World Expo venue represented a challenge in this respect, and the organizers had some concerns as to whether they could maintain their record of visitor traffic growth achieved in past years. Thus, to ensure MEDTEC China could once again report record visitor numbers, the organizers embarked on an extensive tele-marketing and promotional campaign prior to the event.”

On the first day of the MEDTEC China, all fears were immediately erased due to a packed show floor for all to see according to Mr Tsui. “Those in attendance were once again the type of visitors that exhibitors wanted to see: namely primarily manufacturing and production engineers. The show proved to be the busiest ever in the past seven years,” he said. “The attendance and popularity of the event has further underlined the pre-eminent position of in its field: the fast growing medical device manufacturing market."

Exhibitors also reported that the 2012 MEDTEC China show was the best one yet, with a superior venue and visitors spending longer than ever at the show. Exhibitors further reported to the show organizers that inquiries received this year were more "professional" and the nature of the deals more "solid" to them. All of this positive feedback has given the organizers very strong confidence that the show will continue to grow to an even larger scale in 2013.

Exhibitor accolades

Among the satisfied exhibitors at MEDTEC China 2012 was Russ Sabac, Technical sales manager at Brunk Industries. “My experience at MEDTEC China 2012 was productive and [I found it to be a] very satisfying show. The visitors and leads were numerous, as the show was the busiest show of the many that Brunk Industries exhibits at each year. The venue was pleasant and more conveniently located for multiple reasons. We received RFQs for various stamped parts before I even returned home. Overall, the experience was very good, and I hope the show continues to grow and keep providing opportunities to grow our business with the many good companies in China,” Mr Sabac said.

Concurring was Sheng Cai, Lasersystem Sales manager at Leister TechnoAir Jordan XIII 13 Shoes
