AIMING to double sales in Southeast Asia, Meiji Holdings announced plans to invest in a dairy plant in Thailand, where it has a joint venture with food conglomerate CP Group.
The Japanese dairy and snack manufacturer said the venture, CP-Meiji, plans to grow regional sales from JPY9.7bn ($118.1mn) to JPY20bn through a five-year investment programme totalling JPY5bn.
"A new plant will be built at the current site in Bangkok to manufacture yoghurt and lactic acid bacteria drinks, and the production capacity will be doubled," said a Meiji spokesman.
Established in 1989, CP-Meiji is a major regional dairy products supplier to Singapore and Malaysia.
