The acquisition unites two innovators in the vitamin, minerals, and supplement industry, with FoodState operating as a wholly owned subsidiary of Pharmavite

MAJOR manufacturer of high-quality vitamins, minerals, and dietary supplements Pharmavite LLC has recently acquired FoodState Inc., maker of whole food supplements sold under the MegaFood and Innate Response brands.

The acquisition will allow Pharmavite, which supplies the Nature Made® brand, to enter the natural and practitioner channels via FoodState’s strong brands. The latter’s MegaFood is a pioneer in the natural products industry and is the only supplement company to manufacture over 36 individual nutrients through the FoodState NutrientsTM. It has produced some of the most effective and award-winning supplements in the industry like Blood Builder, Baby & Me and Women's One Daily since 1973. MegaFood is the first brand to hand craft vitamins made with farm fresh whole foods in the company’s New Hampshire facility. It sources fresh and local foods from family-owned farms.

FoodState, recognised for high-quality products and strong brands in the natural and health practitioner channels, will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of Pharmavite. The acquisition will allow FoodState to leverage not just Pharmavite's 40+ years of experience, but also its manufacturing, research and product development.

The acquisition brings together two highly complementary companies, both of which have established their name in the vitamin, minerals, and supplement (VMS) industry. FoodState's fast-growing brands, which are positioned for continued growth, will complement Pharmavite's emphasis on high product quality and integrity.

FoodState CEO Robert Craven said joining Pharmavite will allow the company to achieve its mission of improving lives through high-quality supplements using farm fresh whole foods. He noted that the firm will keep its existing executive and organization structure and will report to Pharmavite through a newly formed board of directors.

“We're excited by the opportunity to grow with a company that shares our values," Mr Craven said.

Besides validating the companies’ business strengths, Pharmavite's decision to purchase FoodState reflects its values-based culture and dedication to its nutrition-focused mission, noted Pharmavite CEO and board chair Connie Barry.

"Pharmavite and our parent company, Otsuka, are driven by a vision to improve the lives of people through science and nutrition. The FoodState acquisition represents a natural extension of that vision. Our shared values, vision and mission truly provide a solid foundation for Pharmavite and FoodState's future success," Ms Barry further stated.
