WITH GEA’s Aquarius Coating Line, confectionery manufacturers can coat lollipops with a more consistent quality.
The world’s first fully automated coating line for lollipops, the Aquarius Coating Line automates forming, transferring, cooling, wetting, coating, drying, wrapping and quality control. It will be officially launched in May 2017.
Coatings can be used to add color, texture, shine and flavor to lollipops. Powder coatings created with liquids or syrups include chilli powder, caster sugar and granulates. Sweet and sour combinations are likewise possible.
The new coating line forms ball, fancy and 3D lollipops up to 32mm, with or without a centre fill. It also supports color positioning. All these are attributed to a unique take-over transfer wheel that reverses the lollipop’s orientation prior to wrapping at a very high speed.
The Aquarius can form up to 600 3D lollipops per minute. After forming, the lollipops can either be coated or transported directly to the PopCooler before being wrapped in an appealing sandwich-style format. This sandwich-style wrap also provides promotional possibilities. The system preheats the wrapping film to achieve a lower sealing temperature and reduce the likelihood of sticking.
This new model addresses concerns in coating lollipops like ensuring clean appearance, consistent powder flow and coating thickness while minimizing waste. Keeping the powder out of the air in the work environment is another important consideration, particularly when using fine, spicy powders.
