ProPak Philippines expects 450 exhibitors to introduce their latest equipment for SMEs at the World Trade Center Metro Manila from 5-7 February 2020.

THE International Processing and Packaging Exhibition for the Philippines, or ProPak Philippines takes place at the World Trade Center Metro Manila from 5 – 7 February 2020. This three-day event shares what’s new in the international packaging and processing industries, and displays the most recent machines, technology, and expertise that can help boost the country’s competitiveness in the food, beverage, and pharmaceutical industries.

The Philippines’ food and beverage industry is among the most vibrant in the region, with food sales forecast to grow at about 8.6% annually from 2017 to 2021. It mostly consists of SMEs and MSMEs with goals to take part in the regional and world stage. But to do so, they require not just machines tailored to their needs, but expert advice in the areas of food safety, processing, aspects of packaging, guides on export, and developments in sustainable production. Being in the market that sees ever-changing trends, local companies have much to do and learn to expand their business.  Companies also have to adopt to the preferences of a younger generation, since over 50% of the Philippines’ population is under 24 years old.

Therefore, ProPak Philippines sees this opportunity to be instrumental in moving industry forward much like the other ProPak events do across Asia. With nearly 450 international exhibitors joining the event, visitors will get a glimpse of innovative technologies for every stage of their production.

There will be 11 international pavilions from China, Denmark, Germany, Italy, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, and UK. Among participating companies this year are Asia Integrated Machine, Benison, Bühler, Calvatis, Clearpack, Filtec, Filpet, Gerricke, Heat & Control, Igus, JBT, Robopac, Sweco, Toplax, Toyo Machine, Urschel, Videojet, Wolf, Rieckermann, and many others.

ProPak Philippines has scheduled seminars and workshops where local and foreign company and associations representatives share knowledge with trade visitors.

The Department of Science & Technology (DOST) has gathered experts speaking on packaging for the ageing population; global trends in graphics, structural and supply chain packaging design; and packaging R&D in the DOST.

The Philippine Association of Food Technologists (PAFT) shares its knowledge on timely topics affecting packaging such as chemical migration and scalping of flavours.

The Active & Intelligent Packaging Industry Association (AIPIA) together with packaging companies, will hold five seminars on topics such as smart packaging, augmented reality, and ink safety.

The Food Safety Trends PH will conduct seminars on environmental monitoring programme, and food allergen management, while Asia Integrated Machine Inc will talk about autonomous mobile robots.

Workshops will be conducted by the Australian Institute of Packaging and the Philippine Institute of Packaging on food waste prevention, sustainable packaging, and circular economy.

ProPak Philippines is supported by the Department of Trade and Industry, Department of Science and Technology, Packaging Institute of the Philippines, Association of Laguna Food Processors Inc., Association of Small & Medium Enterprises, Australian Institute of Packaging, Confederation of Danish Industry – Dansk Industri, Dairy Confederation of the Philippines, Italian Packaging Machinery Manufacturers Association, Philippine Association of Food Technologists, Inc., Philippine Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association, Philippine Printing Technical Foundation Inc., Processing and Packaging Machinery Association, Production Management Association of the Philippines, Taiwan Association of Machinery Industry.
