The 3rd Asian Automotive Manufacturing Summit was successfully held at the Mercure Serpong Alam Sutera Hotel in Indonesia from 15th to the 16th August 2016. 

Organized by Ringier Trade Media, the Asian Automotive Manufacturing Summit is a crucial event that brings together key representatives from the metalworking and plastics sectors on a most timely topic of common interest: lightweight and smart manufacturing.

This year with 20 speakers and 150 delegates, of which nearly half of whom came straight from plastics and metalworking companies, high level presentations and networking were seen across the board. Compelling talks covered everything from latest information on advanced materials in plastics and metals, as well as automotive engineering; not to forget the hottest design, quality control & inspection, plus advanced manufacturing systems.

Positive feedback from this year’s participants centered mainly on the high quality speakers, focus of the content, quality of talks, attendees and networking time.

“What is unique in this summit is that the speakers presented the latest technologies that we can share to our organization when go back,” commented Ir. Hadi Surjadipradja from Indonesian Automotive Parts & Components Industries Association (GIAMM).

“I learned a lot of new technologies from this summit that I can use in my line of work. Particularly, the topics on metals and polymer. Great talks and world-class speakers. The 3rd Asian Automotive Manufacturing Summit was broadly supported and attended by the whole automotive industry and associations, which consists of top managements from The Indonesian Automotive Parts and Components Industries Association (GIAMM) GAIKINDO (The Association of Indonesia Automotive Industries), Malaysia Automotive Institute (MAI), Thai European Business Association (TEBA), BOSCH Automotive, BMW Group Thailand, and PT Astra Otoparts.

Industry leaders addressed the hottest topics

An incredible line up speakers have addressed the latest market trends, import/export regulations, technological innovations, and channel management in the auto industry. Topics on trends in lightweight auto manufacturing plus emerging use of advanced technologies and materials were also highlighted. 

What made the summit more special was aside from the technical speeches, industry-leading presentations were held during coffee and lunch breaks.

Guided tour

Another highlight of the event is the guided tour to the head office of the Astra Otoparts, the largest and foremost Automotive Component Group in Indonesia, to meet with senior management. Here, delegates were able to get first-hand information on automotive components production.   

After the summit, all overseas delegates & sponsors received a VIP pass to the Indonesia Auto Show. A free shuttle bus to Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show 2016 was arranged for the delegates. The auto show encourages the Indonesian automotive industry and all its visitors to adopt an eco-friendly driving style and to use green technology, following this year's theme, and "Green Technology for a Better Future."
