Seco to showcase cutting tool innovations at Singapore Airshow 2012

Seco will feature a wide variety of tooling solutions designed for aerospace applications at the Singapore Airshow 2012. The company will focus on new products for cutting the titanium, aluminium, heat-resistant superalloys and composite materials that make up the majority of today’s manufacturing applications in the aerospace and defence segments. Seco will be located on stand number D74 at the trade show, which takes place February 14-19 at the Changi Exhibition Centre in Changi, Singapore.

In terms of new standard products applicable to the aerospace segment, Seco will be exhibiting the Minimaster? Plus end mill system. This next generation product features replaceable fluted inserts and was designed to provide the highest possible levels of precision and productivity. Additionally, the system reduces cost because only the inserts have to be replaced when the tool is worn. The use of exchangeable inserts also allows for best flexibility with optimised tool lengths and eliminates the need for regrinding and ensures a consistent tool life. Minimaster Plus is available in two-, three- and multi-flute insert versions, with all two- and three- flute designs incorporating through-tool coolant to facilitate efficient cooling.where it matters most, in the cutting zone.

Seco’s JetStream Tooling? system will also be on display. The system improves the machining of difficult-to-machine materials by delivering a jet of high-pressure coolant to an optimum position close to the cutting edge. With Jetstream Tooling, coolant lifts chips away from the rake face, improving chip control and tool life, while enabling higher cutting data to be applied. As a result, manufacturers receive both longer tool life and increased productivity.
