SIAL China showcases products from 4300 exhibitors

The food innovation exhibition expects 112,000 buyers from14-16 May 2019 at the SNIEC, Shanghai.  

THE 20th edition of SIAL China, Asia's largest food innovation exhibition opened today at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC) in Shanghai. Attending the Opening Ceremony, were distinguished guests including the Deputy Ministers from Agriculture Ministry of Spanish and Russian government, the Argentine, Spanish, and Uruguayan Ambassadors to China, governmental representatives from Foreign Economic Cooperation Center of Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of China, Gansu Province, Shandong Province, Zhejiang Province, as well as exhibitors, visitors, and partners.

The guests made for a dynamic celebratory atmosphere as Ms. Liu Yingxia, Director of the China Commerce Development Center, Mr. Nicolas Trentesaux, Show Director of SIAL Network, and Mr. Jim Liu, Managing Director of COMEXPOSIUM-SIAL Exhibition Co., Ltd reflected on the opening ceremony and officially welcomed the 112,000 expected visitors and 4,300 exhibitors from more than 70 regions and countries.

Ms. Liu Yingxia officially welcomed guests to the 20th edition of SIAL China and shared that the China Commerce Development Center is “pleased to see that SIAL China has been growing rapidly in size over the years with joint efforts of domestic and international partners.” Ms. Liu Yingxia added, “After 19 years of development, SIAL China has become the largest and the most professional food and beverage exhibition in China and Asia with the most extensive international participation.”

In his remarks, Mr. Nicolas Trentesaux reminded guests that SIAL is about business, inspiration and connecting with people, and encouraged all SIAL China exhibitors and visitors to “have fun, be curious and look deeper into the fascinating world of food.” He also invited guests to look for the three prominent food industry trends of 2019 - taste, true, and meaning, throughout the exhibition and in the SIAL Innovation.

SIAL Innovation winners

Mr. Jim Liu, closed the Opening Ceremony by looking back to the inaugural SIAL China exhibition which welcomed just over 320 exhibitors in the year of 2000, adding a lot has changed since then. “SIAL China was born in the early days of China's rise when it embraced the world and saw booming economic growth. Together with many domestic and international exhibitors and professional visitors, it has witnessed the rapid development of China's food industry, the increasing purchasing power of the Chinese consumer market, and the opportunities and challenges brought to the world food industry.” While SIAL China has grown at a fast pace, it remains committed to enriching the exhibitor and visitor experience by delivering high value-added exhibition experiences such as bringing in professional events, initiating Guest Country of Honour, setting up thematic halls and dedicated food zones, etc.

In 2019, SIAL China has occupied all 17 Halls and 199,500 square meters of the SNIEC for the first time to offer an expanded four dedicated zones, Meat (N3, N4, N5), Dairy (E4), Wine (E5, E6), and Beverage (E4), as well as seven Professional Events that highlight food and beverage industry talents, innovations, and trends. These events and exhibits include SIAL Innovation (E3), La Cuisine (N4), Seafood Fest’ (N2), Wine Innovation Forum (E5), China National Specialty Tea Brewing Cup (E4), Retail & Hospitality Forum (N5), and Chocolate World (W2).
