Special events await visitors to SIAL CHINA 2016

This trade show offers more than new products; several programs and activities showcase expertise as well as market trends influencing the industry

SIAL CHINA 2016, Asia’s largest food innovation exhibition will open its doors to nearly 3,000 exhibitors from 67 countries and regions. This event expects 66,000 professional visitors from 5 – 7 May 2016 at Shanghai New International Expo Centre.

Spanning 126,500 square meters, SIAL CHINA 2016 occupies 11 halls (W1 – W5 and E1 – E6), representing 21 categories and builds up four main sectors - FOOD, MEAT, DAIRY and WINE- which cover the entire spectrum of food and beverage business.

Numerous activities are being organized to make SIAL CHINA a special experience for all its participants. These are:  

SIAL Innovation (Hall W4)

The best products vying for the SIAL Innovation Awards will be on show. Find out who the Golden / Silver / Bronze winners are on May 5 at 3:30pm. The Awards is organized in partnership with XTC World Innovation. The most innovative products presented at the 2014 and 2015 shows are also exhibited at SIAL Innovation and the “World Champions Tour” areas in hall W4.  

La Cuisine (Hall E4)

Endorsed by World Association of Chef Societies (WACS), La Cuisine will organize 8 teams from Austria, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Beijing, Dalian, Guangzhou and Shanghai to compete for the champion of “2016 China International Top Chefs Invitational Competition by SIAL”  while the awarding is on May 6 at 11:45am. In addition, Poland, as the Guest Country of Honor, will present the cooking demonstrations with their quality food ingredients during the show.

Retail & Hospitality Forum (Hall E1)

Current topics such as food sustainability, import and export policy, food innovation, HoReCa and market trends are placed firmly in the spotlight. Top retail operators, consultants and experts will present speeches including the top management from Alibaba, officials from United Nations, CIQ, GS1 and more.

World Tour (Corridor of South Lobby)

World Tour is about the market trends in 28 regions, including the top retail trends.  

Wine Innovation Forum (Hall W5)

This forum showcases international grape varieties from Europe, New World and premium regions in China. Master of Wine Tim Wildman will be the keynote speaker for this forum.

Best Buy China Competition (Hall W5 - M8)

This competition helps wine lovers find wines of particularly best value. A jury of Chinese market specialists will conduct a blind tasting of wines submitted by exhibitors, and choose the ones of best value.

Master Classes (Hall W5)

As a central place for wine experts and wine lovers to converge, Master Classes are dedicated with tasting rooms helping wine lovers to cultivate their tastes for premium wines.  

The 2016 World Tea Brewers Cup

China National Competition (2016 WTBC) (Hall W5)

Endorsed by Café Culture and Australasian Specialty Tea Association (AASTA), this event honors traditions with brewing skills and carry on tea innovations by organizing competitions during the show. Thirty-two contestants will be required to use various materials to explore the essence of tea. The competition will consist of three rounds, round 1 with 32 competitors, round 2 (semifinals) with 12 competitors and round 3 (final round) with 6 competitors. The top 3 will be awarded on May 7.

Seafood Fest’ (Hall E4)

The China Aquatic Products Processing and Marketing Alliance (CAPPMA) and Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) will host an event jointly themed "MSC sustainable selection – trace to the source of seafood to the fishery", promoting sustainable seafood, which will be part of the Seafood Fest'. On exhibit are GFC Rock Lobster as a representative seafood from western Australia, as well as seafood products from ZHANGZIDAO GROUP, DALIAN RICH SEAFOOD CO., LTD. , DALIAN FISHING BEAUTY FOODSTUFF CO.,LTD..

MSC will also introduce the purpose and market development of international sustainable seafood. The Norwegian Seafood Council and Global Aquaculture Alliance (GSA) will have a cooking demonstration on May 5.  Member companies of the CAPPMA will also do a demo on May 7. Visitors can enjoy the amazing match of seafood and wine.

Chocolate World (Hall W3)

Chefs from 5-star hotels and renowned restaurants will join this event and compete for the laurel of chocolate cakes. Main Sponsors, Maxims & Pernigotti will also bring incredible shows on-site.

Matchmaking system and APP

With thousands of food industry professionals joining the exhibition in three days, SIAL CHINA virtually becomes a source of big data for food industry. The matchmaking system that identifies buyers and exhibitors provide the most precise business matching service. The APP breaks the time and space barrier by connecting with the exhibitors and visitors in advance with added-value service via the various features.
