Food & beverage manufacturers from the ASEAN and India attended a seminar and plant visit conducted by Tate & Lyle Asia Pacific to introduce its calorie-free Splenda sucralose to the industry. Over a hundred industry professionals met in Singapore to attend the Health & Wellness Seminar, the first held in the ASEAN region, following the success of a similar seminar held in China in December 2007. Seminar attendees tasted prototypes of food and beverages sweetened with the patented sucralose, including reduced sugar lemon tea, reduced sugar iced coffee, and reduced sugar smoothies prepared by Tate & Lyle's regional R&D team in the company's Shanghai applications center. They were generally not able to differentiate between products made from the sweetener and sugar.
