Vietnam is entering a very exciting time and digitalization is an opportunity for Vietnam to leapfrog and become an industrialized nation soon.

Siemens Vietnam Digitalisation Day 2018

Organized for the first time in Vietnam, Siemens Digitalization Day hosted a variety of activities and attracted about 300 participants, ranging from government policy and decision makers, business and opinion leaders, to Siemens customers and partners, reporters, and Siemens senior executives from Headquarters and the region.

Siemens Vietnam President and CEO Pham Thai Lai started the event day with an interesting presentation about how Siemens has supported Vietnam in improving the quality of life, propelling economic development, fostering human capital and innovation, and sustaining the environment during the past 25 years. Siemens Regional CEO Armin Bruck then shared about how Siemens can help to accelerate digitalization in Vietnam.

The presentations were followed by a panel discussion – “Vietnam Digital Transformation”, with panelists from Hanoi Department of Information and Communication, UNDP Vietnam, Viettel, FPT Software and Siemens. They discussed about the impact of digitalization on the economy, as well as the role of government and business in supporting the digital transformation in Vietnam.

To better support the digital transformation of Vietnamese enterprises, Siemens officially launched MindSphere in Vietnam during this event. MindSphere is a cloud-based, open IoT operating system, and is an important building block of Siemens’ digitalization strategy. It transforms data into knowledge and knowledge into business success, and creates new business opportunities. MindSphere can be used as the Operating System for cities as well.

Participants then witnessed the signing of two contracts between Siemens Vietnam and VinFast for the supply of technology and components to locally manufacture electrical traction drive systems used in VinFast’s electric buses (eBus). Electric buses are an essential part of sustainable urban public transportation. Siemens is very pleased to bring in both technology and experience to shape this trend in Vietnam together with VinFast.

Another highlight of Siemens Vietnam Digitalization Day was the unique digital experience at the exhibition area. Visitors could visit the virtual reality (VR) center at the Digital Power booth and take a virtual tour in the gas turbine factory, or try the remote services applied in the area of building technology using the augmented reality (AR) glasses. They could also watch experts from Siemens Singapore demonstrating some MindSphere apps.

“Vietnam is entering a very exciting time and digitalization is an opportunity for Vietnam to leapfrog and become an industrialized nation sooner. Siemens is at the forefront of digital innovation. We have already developed the relevant solutions for cities for more efficiency, sustainability and security. We are highly committed to being the partner of choice for Vietnamese customers, as well as supporting Vietnam in leading the way to digital transformation,” said Siemens Vietnam President and CEO Pham Thai Lai.
