In the first quarter of 2020, though the negative impact of COVID-19 disease, consumption index of the whole Vietnam manufacturing registered an increase of 2.8% in comparison with the same period in 2019.

However, the pandemic is already ushering in a host of challenges to the national industrial manufacturers in several ways, inventory index of the entire manufacturing as of March 31, 2020 grew by 24.9 percent over the same period last year.

On the other hand, the actual complicated situation has speeded up the decision of tech giants to shift production of their new phones, personal computers and other devices from China to Southeast Asia, including Vietnam. In 2020, “Made in Vietnam” Pixel phones and Surface laptops won’t be a tall tale thank to the decisive action of Google and Microsoft to minimise the overreliance on China for manufacturing. Vietnam remains a safe and attractive destination for outsider investors.
