Yokogawa Engineering Asia Pte. Ltd opens “In-Space” (innovation space), a unique customer experience centre located at its regional headquarters in Singapore.

Serving industrial clients in Southeast Asia, Taiwan and Oceania, In-Space offers an immersive environment for customers to experience Yokogawa’s suite of digital transformation solutions as well as receive consulting services focused on their specific needs and challenges. It is Yokogawa’s first such centre globally.

The opening of the new facility comes two years after the establishment of the company’s Co-Innovation Centre in Singapore, which researches and develops customer-specific, cross-functional solutions in collaboration with clients and partners. In-Space enhances and expands on that approach, featuring an interactive showcase of inventions and cutting-edge smart solutions by Yokogawa alongside industry success stories. The new customer space promotes interaction among Yokogawa and plant owners, and aims to fully leverage the company’s OpreX suite of technologies and solutions to help upgrade traditional industries and develop the digital plant, in line with Yokogawa’s Synaptic Business Automation concept.

As there is no one single application or technology that enables digital transformation, Yokogawa engages clients and partners in a discovery journey to develop the optimal portfolio of solutions and services to meet customers’ goals. Areas of collaboration may include IIoT (industrial internet of things), secure cloud and remote technology, cyber physical systems, digital twins, virtual reality, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and big data analytics.

“In-Space is Yokogawa’s hub in Asia for innovation and creative thinking. It is designed for both internal and external clients to enable deeper engagement and discussion, and to encourage breakthrough insights. It is the ideal space to create new solutions with our clients and become a trusted partner in their digital transformation journey.” said Kazuhiko Takeoka, President & CEO of Yokogawa Engineering Asia Pte. Ltd. “We want to help our clients envision a smarter plant, connected and intelligent, with information and data visibility from the factory floor to the C-suite, to help them achieve performance excellence across their enterprises,” he continued.

Lim Kok Kiang, Assistant Managing Director, Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB), added, “In-Space’s focus on innovation and industry collaboration is in line with Singapore’s approach in advancing our industrial sectors, by driving transformation through trusted partnerships. The facility will complement Yokogawa’s recently-opened Co-Innovation Centre to develop and implement digital solutions in the Industrial IoT space, while creating added value for its customers.”

In conjunction with the launch of In-Space, the company is unveiling an enhanced Global Security Competence Laboratory, offering a wide range of cybersecurity management solutions to maintain the stability and flexibility of the modern plant operation. With the steady evolution of technology leading to the closer integration and automation of activities, the fusion of OT and IT has brought about huge benefits to plant operations, making it easier for enterprises to do business today. However, it also exposes enterprises to increasingly sophisticated cyber threats on their plant networks. Yokogawa’s Global Security Competence Laboratory leverages extensive industry knowledge and advanced capabilities accumulated over the last 10 years through numerous high-profile, large-scale projects globally to provide optimal plant security lifecycle services and solutions for operational resilience.

The establishment of In-Space and the upgrading of the Global Security Competence Laboratory is being marked by a ceremony on September 25th attended by senior representatives of the EDB and the Embassy of Japan in Singapore.
