Hydro CEO as IAI's new chairperson

Brandtzæg is appointed IAI chair for a period of two years, and replaces Artem Volynets from UC Rusal. "I am honoured by this appointment, at a time when aluminium metal and materials are experiencing strong growth, and as the industry faces both shortterm chal lenges and long-term opportunities ," Brandtzæg said.

Baosteel, Shanghai Toshiba launch joint laboratory

Baosteel currently occupies over 50% of silicon steel and 100% of pickled plate in Shanghai Toshiba.
Shagang Group acquires controlling stake in ST Zhang Copper
Publish on 6/28/2010 01:06:05 PMJiangsu-based copper pipe producer ST Zhang Copper announced that China's Securities Regulatory Commission has approved the application of Shagang Group, the largest private steel enterprise in China, also based in Jiangsu, to take a controlling stake in ST Zhang Copper. Accordingly, ST Zhang Copper will issue 1.178 million shares to Shagang Group to enable it to purchase a 63.79% stake, worth Rmb2.096 billion (US$306 million) in Huaigang Special Steel, which is currently owned by Shagang.
POSCO builds steel processing centre in Yantai

POSCO started to build up the new supply chain management (SCM) centre to secure a new sales hub for automobile sheets, as Shandong-based Chinese carmakers, located in Yantai and Jinan, are increasing production.
Kobe Steel and partners to produce automotive parts in China

The estimated $26.8 million investment project is due to start production in August 2012 at Suzhou in Jiangsu province. The same partnership of Kobe Steel (60%), Mitsui & Co. Ltd (25%), and Toyota Tsusho Corp.
Valeo gains 100% of its electrical systems entity in Pune
