Two firms ink deal on refractory material supply

China Gengsheng Minerals Inc., a materials technology firm that promotes products that can withstand high temperature, reduce power use and increase productivity in industries like steel and oil, has signed a refractory material supply deal with Jiangsu Sha Steel Group Co. Ltd''s Zhangjiagang-based subsidiary. The contract''s to talvalue is pegged at $1.2 million.

CAM software specialist Delcam has created a new department of its services group in Singapore, after the company''s success in Europe. Although Delcam''s software has been known throughout Asia for more than two decades, the Singapore location will be the first home ground in the region for its Professional Services Group. MPR Services Inc. (MPR) has established MPR Services Middle East WLL (MME), a joint venture (JV) between Gulf Technologies Holding Company WLL and Tessenderlo NL Holding BV, Breda, Netherlands. Situated in Bahrain, MME will cater to the oil and gas industries in the GCC and Egypt and will be giving MPR''s amine re-claiming services in the region. Groundwork for $1.8B Saudi railway project set

Saudi Arabia has granted a SR6.79 billion ($1.8 billion) infrastructure contract to a consortium, along with a unit of China Railway Construction Corp. for building a railway system to the holy sites in the kingdom. The deal, which will involve ground and civil engineering works, is the first of the series of projects to be given for the 450km high-speed rail connecting the Red Sea port city of Jeddah to Mecca and Medina, which are Islam''s two holiest cities.

Rio Tinto Alcan has inked two major agreements with Ma''aden, a Saudi Arabian mining company, to improve the mining company''s mine- to-metal aluminium project (AP) in Saudi Arabia. The technology transfer agreement gives Ma''aden an industry- leading AP smelting technology, and project support for other activities as stipulated in the cooperation agreement.
