IRNE: Which specialised products and services does Milco Plastic offer?
Mr. Traboulsi: Milco Plastic, a subsidiary of National Food Products Company, deals in a diverse range of plastic packaging. From dairy cups to ice cream containers, buckets, bottles, closures, disposable trays, plastic sheets and films, Milco Plastic offers customised, tailor-made products to its clients. We are also focused on extending our range by introducing special shaped cups, containers and products for ready-to-eat meals.

The company operates a state-of-the-art manufacturing unit housing technically sound extrusion, thermoforming, printing, injection moulding, blow moulding and distribution facilities.

IRNE: Does the company only cater to the Group's requirements or are the products sold outside as well?

Mr. Traboulsi: Established in 1977, the initial purpose of the company was to meet the group's intrinsic requirement of plastic cups and containers. With overwhelming response, the company increased its production capacity. Today, it supplies almost 50% of its total production to clients outside the parent company.

The company's annual production capacity ranges from 18,000 to 22,000 tonnes and currently, more than 60% of the company's sales are attributed to markets outside the UAE.

We cater to the dairy and catering industries in large volumes. We also service the aviation industry directly and indirectly through service partners. We offer special plastic sheets and films for large manufacturers who are engaged in packaging.

IRNE: How does the company maintain its strict adherence to quality and control?
Mr. Traboulsi: We are an ISO 9001:2008 accredited firm, assuring the customers of consistent quality in products and services, prompt responses to any query or need, and commitment towards continuous improvement. All raw materials are purchased from reputed suppliers across the world and are food grade certified to ensure a hygienic end product. We ensure that our techniques, processes and procedures are constantly updated and are internationally benchmarked.

In recognition of our work, we have been awarded the prestigious H.H Sheikh Khalifa Industry award for the years 2001-2002 and 2004-2005.

IRNE: What is the company's unique selling proposition?

Mr. Traboulsi: Milco Plastic's success is attributed to a combination of quality, relentless effort and investment in state- of-the-art technology. We are the first company in the Middle East to use GE Lexan Polycarbonate with EDGE GLOW features, which is a special grade material. It adds a transparent glow to the bottles and offers an innovative look to the product.
