TAM sees strong demand for machines in the food processing sector

TOKYO Automatic Machine Works (TAM) is a Japanese company specializing in the manufacture of packaging and filling machines for a number of different industrial sectors. With a long history of machine manufacturing dating back to 1944, TAM is a well respected machinery brand name in Japan. The company has a large range of products on offer such as confectionery & gift wrapping machines, film overwrapping machines, vertical form-fill-seal machines, and powder filling machines, to name a few.

Sunao Yamamoto, manager of the company’s international division, said that “although we service the packaging needs of manufacturers in a number of different industries, it is the food processing sectors where we do most of our business.”

TAM has been coming to Viet Nam for around five years and operates through a local agent, and like many companies, provides the support and training with all areas of after sales service. When asked about the changes he’s seen over the years Mr Yamamoto replied, “We see packaging as a luxury item. In the less developed nations packaging is scarce and not seen as a real need. So throughout Southeast Asia we have seen a marked increase in the economy of nations such as Indonesia, Thailand, and Viet Nam, and possibly Myanmar in the not too distant future. As these economies grow, so does the need for our type of machines. We are still very optimistic about Vietnam’s steady growth.”
