While traditional PCR uses agarose gels for the detection of PCR amplification at the end point of the reaction, real-time PCR detects PCR amplification at the early phases of the reaction, providing early kinetic measurements and saving more time in the process. Traditional PCR is very time-consuming, as results are not obtained immediately; in addition, traditional PCR provides poor resolution (about 10-fold) and has low sensitivity, poor precision, and non-automated.
