Construction boom

As Saif Al Midaf Director General, Expo Center Sharjah mentioned that the Middle East construction boom will continue being one of the major driving forces behind the regional steel sector's growth in the coming years, where demand in the region is expected to increase from 70 million tonnes in 2007 to around 90 million tonnes in 2010, according to industry sources. For sure if we look to the crisis that the region faced in the last year economically in Dubai and politically in others countries like Egypt or Tunis I would be carful to agree on the result, which was expected.

However from FARO point of view and experience in the last three years in the region as business development manager, I am receiving on daily base requests from the region for 3D measurement devices from different sectors but mainly from steel and metal constructions. At the moment, we have 100 of devices in the region some of them were ordered directly from FARO or through our distributor in the region some equipment would be directly ordered for laboratory of the company and many of them are in the hand of 3D and Laser scanning measurement services companies.
