Precision solutions for metalworking

SIMTEK Präzisionswerkzeuge GmbH presents an expanded selection of 3D-lasered chip forming geometries, the versatile simmill 9W milling tool system, and newly developed, length-adjustable holders.

When threading with a conventional simturn DX insert (left), users previously had to accept twisted chips or adjust the cutting values, which often resulted in longer machining times. The lasered chip geometry (right) produces chips that can be deflected out of the machining zone in a controlled manner when the cutting values are the same.

With its 3D-lasered chip forming geometries, SIMTEK sets new standards in chip control. This technology not only increases process reliability, but also extends the service life of the tools.

“The introduction of laser geometries marks a huge advance in tool technology. Thanks to them, our tools are not only sharper and more precise, but also able to reliably meet the requirements for chip control,” explains Board Member Norbert Seifermann.

According to SIMTEK, the 3D-lasered tools are ideal for applications in the automotive industry, medical technology and other sectors with high demands on precision and process stability. The number of customers using SIMTEK cutting tools with 3D laser geometries has increased more than tenfold since 2019.

simmill 9W – monoblock performance meets modular flexibility

Another highlight is the simmill 9W tool family. It combines the precision and stability of monoblock moulds with the flexibility and cost-effectiveness of modular systems. The system is particularly suitable for applications such as slotting, separating and slot milling – for example in the automotive industry, in mechanical engineering and for demanding precision applications.

“With the simmill 9W series, we are closing the gap between classic modular interchangeable tools and monoblock solutions,” explains Norbert Seifermann.

Thanks to an innovative gearing technology, the system ensures maximum stability and precision – even at milling depths of up to 16.5 mm in the standard range, which is far beyond the capabilities of many other comparable tool solutions. With standard cutting widths from 0.5 mm to 6.0 mm and an integrated coolant supply, the series scores highly in terms of both efficiency and sustainability. In the individual area, the possible applications in terms of diameter, width and depth are even greater.

Adjustable-length holders for maximum flexibility

The length-adjustable clamping holders and carrier tools presented at the Metalshow & TIB are specially designed for small-batch production and individual requirements. Highlights include the simturn DX toolholders with stepless length adjustability and the patented ME clamping principle, which offers high stability even at high overhangs.

The adjustable-length holders are not only particularly economical and flexible to use due to their versatility, but also help to reduce the variety of tools needed by the user.

The range covers a wide variety of applications: From the machining of small bores from Ø 4.7 mm with simturn AX carrier tools, to simturn DX tool holders for bores from Ø 7.0 mm, to larger diameters from 10.5 mm with simturn PX systems.

“With these products, we enable our customers to reduce tool inventories while still responding flexibly to new manufacturing requirements,” emphasizes Norbert Seifermann.

High-precision tools for small diameters and customised requirements

A growing segment at SIMTEK is the development and production of tools for machining in the smallest diameters. The standard range already includes numerous tools from the simturn AX, simturn DX and simturn PX product families, which have been specially developed for this purpose. However, users at SIMTEK are not limited to using standard tools. With more than 10,000 individual tool concepts every year, SIMTEK offers customised tool solutions for small-diameter applications. Thanks to our many years of experience in the field of customised tools and the use of lasered clip geometries, users benefit from cost-effective customised tools even in small batch sizes – regardless of whether they are developed from existing standard tools or from scratch.
