At the ASEAN Coating Innovation and Technology Development Conference 2025, representatives from Indonesia’s highly dynamic coatings industry shared their expertise to the delegates through presentations that cover hot topics in coatings production and application. Organized by Ringier Trade Media Ltd’s Ringier Events, the conference brought together more than 100 participants from international and domestic companies and organizations.
The conference featured a distinguished panel of thought leaders and technical experts, who shared in-depth perspectives on the current state and future direction of the coatings industry.

His presentation provided an interesting lead to how the coating industry in Indonesia is transforming to become globally competitive. The regulatory changes affecting the coating industry and how to comply with international standards was discussed by Mr. Novian Amrah Putra, Chairman, Indonesia ISO Expert Association (IIEA). With a distinguished career in leading the development and portfolio management of enterprises across diverse sectors—including Certification, Training, Assessment Services, Productivity, Business Improvement, and Innovation—Mr. Putra brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise in this area.

A well-known industry expert, Mr. Djohanli held key positions in major industry associations such as Indonesian Coating Association (ASCOATINDO) and Indonesian Paint Manufacturers Association (APCI), as well as in various international companies.
Ms. Novina Tjahjadi, Corporate Director and R&D Division Head, PT Mowilex Indonesia
Ms. Novina Tjahjadi, Corporate Director and R&D Division Head at PT Mowilex Indonesia, shared an interesting account on the growth of bio-based coatings and the innovations and challenges of this type of coatings. Ms. Tjahjadi placed emphasis on how the industry is evolving as sustainability becomes an essential component of long-term strategy. PT Mowilex Indonesia has been leading the way in sustainability being a pioneer in the development of environmentally friendly practices from day one, and the first to manufacture water-based paints in Indonesia.

Mr. Tio has been steering PT. Bintang Chemical Indonesia as Managing Director, driving innovation and business growth.

Ms. Esther Mahar, Principal Consultant at PT Mitra Inti Performa (MIP Indonesia) discussed how to develop sustainable growth strategies through supply chain compliance and enhancing risk management in the coatings industry. A seasoned professional with interest in value driven decision making, assurance strategy, and risk engineering, Ms. Mahar is a Lean Systems Engineering practitioner with decades of global work experience in various multinational corporations.

Mr. Danny Tanurahardja, Commercial General Manager at Pacific Paint, placed emphasis on colors as he talked about how color creates connections. A results-driven leader with over 20 years of experience in the consumer industry, Mr. Tanurahardja currently leads Pacific Paint’s commercial operations, driving market growth through strategic brand management, innovative product development, impactful trade marketing, and operational excellence.

Ir. Yosica Marliana, S.T., M.T., IPU, ASEAN Eng., Head of Program, Product Design Engineering at BINUS ASO School of Engineering, presented on the topic “Adding Colors to Decorative Paints for More Vibrant Exterior and Interior.” Ir. Mariana is a lecturer and design practitioner with over 27 years of experience in higher education, construction, and interior design.
Mr. Joey Roi Bondoc, Research Director, Colliers
The final presentation delivered by Mr. Joey Roi Bondoc, Research Director at Colliers, focused on the how demands from the construction and building industry influence the coatings industry in the region. Mr. Bondoc is one of the experts on key industries in the Southeast Asian region and has a strong knowledge in the fields of real estate development, building & construction as well as other related industries.
Highly informative factory tour
On August 21, a delegation composed of conference participants joined the factory tour to Pacific Paint and PT Mowilex Indonesia, two leading companies engaged in the production of coatings and paints.
