AMETEK finalises acquisition of FARO Technologies

With this strategic move, FARO joins Creaform and Virtek under AMETEK’s Ultra Precision Technologies Division, forming a powerhouse trio in the fields of 3D metrology, laser projection, and digital reality.

The integration of FARO with Creaform and Virtek positions AMETEK to offer one of the industry’s most comprehensive portfolios of portable and automated measurement solutions. These technologies serve a wide range of applications, including: Industrial Manufacturing: Quality control and reverse engineering in automotive, aerospace, energy, and heavy equipment through tools such as portable arms, handheld 3D scanners, optical CMMs, and advanced scan-to-CAD software. Architecture, Engineering & Construction (AEC) / Public Safety: Accurate as-built documentation, BIM integration, and forensic analysis supported by mobile and fixed 3D laser scanners and SaaS collaboration platforms. Manufacturing & Assembly: 3D laser projectors and smart cameras designed to optimise complex assembly processes and enhance production efficiency.

While FARO, Creaform, and Virtek will continue to operate as independent brands, their collaboration is expected to unlock stronger product integration, expanded service capabilities, and enhanced customer experiences.
