Oerlikon HRSflow unveiled two innovative developments in its automotive solutions: the new, patent-pending GLOW HRS technology and advanced solutions for low-stress back-injection of films in the production of parts with high-quality finishes that significantly reduce costly rework.

GLOW HRS technology is a compact solution for direct injection of high-quality parts that prevents halos and enables excellent surface quality. Precise control of the surface temperature minimizes the effort required for rework, reduces energy consumption and thus contributes to a more sustainable process. The technology is easy to install, has no impact on cycle time and ensures consistently high productivity. From hoods and tailgates to roofs and smart panels, the system can be adapted to a wide range of automotive applications. In its research and development laboratory, Oerlikon offers HRSflow customers the opportunity to test the technology for themselves.

High-quality automotive part surfaces directly from the mold
At K 2025 at Haitian International Germany, Oerlikon HRSflow demonstrated the production of paint-free automotive parts using servo-controlled FLEXflow HRS® needle gate technology using a vehicle wheel arch. The tool used for this purpose with vacuum insert from Inevo, which is designed for back-injection molding, has three nozzles from the Ma series integrated. FLEXflow HRS® thus enables the use of PP for precise, low-tension film back-injection. This solution was demonstrated using a decorative film from DNP Group, also made of PP and inserted into the mould.
The result is a flawless surface without downstream work steps such as transfer printing, painting or mechanical processing. The parts leave the tool ready for installation, while the mono-material structure ensures easy recycling without additional work steps. The wheel arch also offers high scratch resistance for long-lasting durability. In addition, the simple replacement of the decorative films enables fast, flexible and resource-saving colour changes with minimal waste.
