Coral jewellery made from recycled plastic

Jewellery with radiance and a sustainable message: Designer Bojana Kovačič Zemljič has deliberately used recycled packaging waste for her Coral Collection, an exciting innovation in plastics recycling that highlights the use of recycled materials. Used yoghurt pots and other dairy product packaging have been transformed into vividly coloured creations reminiscent of coral, highlighting the fragile beauty of nature and the vital need to protect our planet’s precious ecosystems.

This impressive transformation is made possible by Interzero’s innovative circular material, procyclen®PS. Through their collaboration with Bojana Kovačič Zemljič and E2RD® Design, the Interzero Plastics Innovations team has once again showcased its extensive expertise. procyclen®PS is a development of the company’s own internationally accredited Centre of Competence for Recycling Plastics in Slovenia. High-quality recyclates are produced from used single-use polystyrene (PS) packaging using an innovative single-stage sorting and recycling process, alongside special chemical additives.

For the SoFTI AQUA Coral Collection, specialists designed unique color blends to reflect the azure blues of tropical waters and the vibrant hues of coral reefs. “The collection is a powerful statement of how we can turn waste into beauty and make use of new, sustainable materials,” says Dr Manica Ulcnik-Krump. “It demonstrates the virtually limitless possibilities of recycling, while also calling for us to change our mindset and rethink how we interact with the world.”

The SoFTI AQUA Coral Collection has been selected as a finalist in the Plastics Recycling Awards Europe 2026, in the category Household & Leisure Product of the Year.  The winners of the Plastics Recycling Awards Europe 2026 will be announced on 6 March 2026 during PRS Europe in Amsterdam.
