In March 2026, metal cutting leader Sandvik Coromant Indonesia celebrated the inauguration of its new facility in Cikarang, Indonesia.

The event welcomed 28 valued distributors and partners to celebrate the grand opening of its new office and training facility.

Sandvik Coromant’s Indonesian facility was first based in Jakarta and its relocation to Cikarang marks an important milestone in strengthening support for the company’s distributors and customers across the country. The new site places Sandvik Coromant closer to the majority of its customers, many who have shifted their production to the eastern part of Jakarta. With continued industrial growth and new investments emerging in areas such as Cikarang, Karawang, Cikampek and Subang, the new location positions Sandvik Coromant at the centre of these expanding manufacturing zones.

The facility includes dedicated training areas for both internal and external customers to meet the growing demand for skills development. This enables more effective delivery of hands-on learning and development, supporting Indonesia’s rapidly evolving machining industry.

“Our new facility represents a forward-looking investment that strengthens our long-term commitment to Indonesia,” said Masahiro Yamamoto, general manager for sales area Asia Pacific. “Being closer to our customers means we can respond faster, collaborate more closely and be an even stronger partner in their day-to-day challenges.”

The inauguration ceremony involved a significant ribbon-cutting moment symbolising the official launch of the new site, with His Excellency Daniel Blockert, Ambassador of Sweden to Indonesia in attendance. Attendees were then split into groups for guided tours, offering an inside look at the upgraded office environment, dedicated training facilities and enhanced capabilities.

Following the tour, participants attended an informative session highlighting upcoming events, service offerings and training programmes. A key highlight was a Digital Live Machining demonstration streamed from the Sandvik Coromant Center in Pune, India. This showcased the readiness of Indonesia’s training activities and the strong global support network behind them.

The new facility will host five training sessions for customers in 2026, two of which will take place in May. These will involve exploring automotive component machining and mastering the fundamentals of metal cutting.

The final session in September will provide practical knowledge, expert-led formulations and insights to help attendees optimize accuracy, tool life and productivity when working with small, intricate parts.
