How IT and OT converge to form the smart factory

The convergence of Information Technology (IT) and Operational Technology (OT) emerged as one of the defining themes at HANNOVER MESSE 2026, as manufacturers increasingly seek fully connected and intelligent production environments capable of improving efficiency, cybersecurity, and operational resilience.

At the exhibition, Axians and Actemium, both brands under VINCI Energies, demonstrated how integrated IT/OT architectures are enabling the next generation of smart factories through secure digitalization, AI integration, industrial networking, and real-time data visibility.

Presented under the theme “Industrial Solutions. Proven. Secured.”, the showcase highlighted how manufacturers are moving beyond isolated automation systems toward unified digital ecosystems where machines, production processes, enterprise systems, and cybersecurity platforms operate as interconnected networks.
